Carroll County Farm Bureau Board Meeting 8/15/05

The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and called to order by President Mike Beale. Ryan Swayze, led 14 board members and 3 guests in the pledge to the flag. Mark Justice read devotions and led us in prayer. The secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the July meeting were waived as they were enclosed with August’s meeting notice. The minutes were approved as written.

Mike introduced Jim Saylors, new Agency Manager. A brief discussion of building maintenance followed.

The Annual District Training Meeting was discussed. Most enjoyed the program and thought recruitment of members was good. This was followed by generating a “target list” of new members.

Membership Report: Betty Ward reported that Carroll County needs 39 more voting, currently at 95% and 137 more paid for total membership, currently at 94% by September 30th.

Rusty Ashby gave a quick overview of the plans for the Car Seat Clinic to be held on August 20th. Volunteers for Saturday were secured, Justices will pick up jumper & donuts Saturday morning, set up at 7 am. Flyers were sent to all the area pre-schools and board members were encouraged to distribute them as well.

NEWSLETTER articles were due at this meeting for September 1st publication.

Rusty & Shawn Ashby are working on submitting applications for the Outstanding County Activity Award applications.

Safety Report: Maxine Snider read “Who Should Wear a Medical ID”

Local Affairs: Jr Snider gave a quick update on the County Nurse issue printed in the County paper.

Young Farmers: Mark & Kathy Justice shared that the County Young Farmer Picnic & Pool Party was held on the 31st at their house. The next Marketing Meeting is August 16th and will be hosted by the Swayze’s at 7:30, no supper due to conflicting schedules. The Ashby’s will host the September 13th Marketing Meeting at their home at 6:30. 3 couples helped with Little hands on the farm, Saturday, August 13th.

Ty Brown said he received a request that Farm Bureau get involved in Carroll County Zoning issues and be proactive.

Delegates to attend the State Resolutions Committee on August 27th will be Mike, Mark, and Ty. Shawn will be unable to attend and Ty will be our elected alternate.

Mark Justice also brought up the Ethanol Topic with potential for conversion, use & education on E85.



Janice Frey, County Woman’s Leader, announced that Janet Kemper will be the new District 3 woman’s leader. She also discussed the program from the Summer Council as it included lots of great information and games.

Janice Wilson, Field Staff, handed out her board report outlining upcoming events. She also asked that we tentatively set the Annual meeting date. March 14th 2006 was decided.

The meeting was adjourned. Refreshments were served by Mark & Kathy Justice. Next meeting will be September 19th at 7:00 PM, Devotions & Refreshments to be by Betty Ward.
