Carroll County Farm Bureau Board Meeting 6/20/05

The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and called to order by President Mike Beale. Ryan Swayze, led 12 board members and 1 guest in the pledge to the flag. Ty Brown read devotions. The secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the May meeting were waived as they were enclosed with June’s meeting notice. The minutes were approved as written.

Old Business: Carolyn Burkle passed away from cancer. The board sent flowers. Betty Ward shared that the service was nice and that Carolyn was greatly admired.

Mike shared that Tom Leisure has taken a new position as Agency Manager for Fayette-Decatur-Rush-Union counties effective July 1st. They are in the process of replacing him.

New Business: The Fair: Mike opened the discussion for a donation to the building fund in lieu of purchasing an auction item. Ty made a motion to give $250 to the general building fund, Shawn Ashby seconded, the motion passed.

Membership Report: Betty Ward reported that Carroll County needs 55 more voting and 223 more paid for total membership by September 30th.

Women’s Leader Report: Janice Frey reported that there will be a special election to fill Carolyn’s vacant position as District 3 women’s leader at the July 27th leadership meeting.

The board sang “Happy Birthday” Craig Frey. He was 29 for the first time.

CAR SEAT CLINIC: Sacha Brown & Rusty Ashby lead a discussion on the details and dates for the Car Seat Clinic. It was decided that August 20th would be the day (with 27th as our second choice) from 8 – 12 at the Flora Park. Rusty will make the appropriate calls to get things reserved. After much discussion Ryan made a motion that we would have a budget of $2000 to produce the event, with $1000 of that going directly to Safe Kids for the purchase of car seats. Craig seconded the motion, vote carried.

Local Affairs: Shawn updated the board on current happenings at the Delphi School Board meetings.

There was a discussion on the current building renovations and repairs.

Local Affairs: Junior Snider had Maxine read a thank you to Farm Bureau from a U.S. Marine printed in the FB newsletter.

Safety Report: Maxine Snider read “19 signs of a safe courteous motorists”

Information Leader: Rusty reported that the membership benefits have not changed since last year so the fair booth features will be the same. It was decided that set up will be Saturday, July 9th at 8:00 AM

Field Staff Report, Janice Wilson, Field Rep, was not present. Her monthly Board Report was passed out for everyone to read.
Refreshments were served by Sacha Brown and the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be July 18th at 6:30 PM – it will be our ANNUAL CARRY PICNIC at the office. Bring a well-filled basket and table service.
