Carroll County Farm Bureau Board Meeting 3/21/05

The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and called to order by President Mike Beale. Brooke Beale, led 8 board members in the pledge to the flag. Kathy Justice read devotions. The secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the February meeting were waived as they were enclosed with March’s meeting notice. The minutes were approved as written.

Insurance Report: Tom Leisure, FB Insurance Office Manager, shared that they are in process of wallpapering the front offices at the Delphi office and it looks much better & brighter. Mike Fife, FB insurance agent will be retiring as of April 1st. Tom has decided to bring Kyle Groninger to the Delphi office along with a CSR to replace Mike. His accounts will divided up according to premium and agent compatibility.

Old Business: Annual Meeting comments. Janice Frey read a thank you from Sarah Griffin.
Mike reported on Ag Day and commented that they are having trouble getting help.

Young Farmers: Kathy shared that the YF group went Bowling in February and were glad to have 2 new couples participate in the event. Her and Mark also attended the District YF planning meeting: the District trip will be June 23-26 to Nashville, TN, cost will be $100/person and we have 24 bus seats available. The Christmas Party has been cancelled due to conflicting dates, as a result, there will be a summer picnic planned by Carroll & White County representatives. It is tentatively scheduled for June 11th at Columbian Park with a carry-in meal and water park tickets. The district Little Hands on the Farm day will be the morning shift on Aug 13th. There was not much interest shown in putting together a bus/group for the Farm Progress Show the end of August to IL. Kathy suggested we see if there is enough interest for a county group to sponsor a bus. The January State YF conference has increased to $100/person for a one night hotel stay. The next Marketing Teleconference will be April 12th at the Justice’s “depending on the weather”. Finally, Mark & Kathy attended Part II of the FB to DC program. They completed Basic Institute School in Indianapolis March 18-19th. It was very interesting and they encourage participation in the program. They will complete the program in June with Part III – Washington D.C. trip.

Membership Report: Betty Ward reported that Carroll County needs 102 more voting and 454 more paid for total membership, currently at 88%.
