Ag Fact More than 12 percent of the 2004 corn crop will be used for ethanol production according to projections from the Agriculture Department The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and called to order by President Mike Beale. Ryan Swayze, led 16 board members in the pledge to the flag. Janice Frey read devotions. The secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the January meetings were waived as they were enclosed with February’s meeting notice. The minutes were approved as written. Insurance Report: Tom Leisure, FB Insurance Office Manager, gave an overview of 2004 and an update on the building maintenance. Formed a Building Committee for the 2005 JOA: Shawn Ashby and Mike. Old Business: Newsletter articles are due tonight to Rusty Ashby. Shawn is in the process of getting the lawn signs with website address for both offices. Annual Meeting – Honan Hall 6:00pm on March 15th. Menu was decided upon. Ballot was reviewed and it was decided to table the Pet & Hobby position for a year. Shawn made the motion, Ty Brown Seconded, motion passed. Which led to the discussion of the potential for a small scale “little hands on the farm” one night of the fair. Janice Wilson discussed our need to reorganize under the Indiana Nonprofit Corporation Act of 1991. Shawn made the motion that we reorganize, Craig Frey Seconded, motion passed. Board members examined the amended and restated articles of incorporation. Shawn moved to accept the amended and restated articles of incorporation, Craig Seconded, motion passed. Resolutions for 2005 were discussed and written in ballot form for the Annual Meeting. Extension Board sent letter requesting that we continue to sponsor the trophy for the Reserve Grand Champion Strawberry and the Grand Champion Rabbit and two Round-up trips and the Year pins for the boys. Shawn made the motion to continue this support, Craig Seconded, motion passed. New Business: Tracie requested that we give to the Camden Spring Carnival. Sacha made a motion that we donate $50 to the school carnival, Craig Seconded, motion passed Legislative/Current Events: Shawn Ashby gave a quick web site update and a school board update. Membership Report: Betty Ward reported that Carroll County needs 113 more voting and 499 more paid for total membership, currently at 80%. Women’s Leader Report: Janice Frey proudly reported that she received 50 entries for the coloring contest and that she forwarded them on to the State for judging. Food Check-Out day, February 7th, was a success. Friends Day was February 8th in Burlington, she read a thank you from Extension for our part in the event. Spring Conference is March 4-5. Farming in the Classroom National Convention will be here, this summer June 8-11, in Indianapolis. Shawn made a motion that the board would support anyone wanting to attend this convention, Craig Seconded, motion passed. Kathy Justice, our Farming in the Classroom representative, will be giving a presentation at Camden next month. Young Farmers: Mark reported that 2 couples attended the 2005 Young Farmer Conference in January. The Ski Trip has been cancelled, they have planned a bowling party on Sunday, February 27th at 3:30 in Logansport. Justice’s & Ashby’s also listened in on the new ADM Marketing Teleconference on February 15th and found it very interesting. Check the website for future calls. Mark & Kathy also attended the FB to DC basic school this month and found it very informative. State House Visit: Mark, Craig, Mike, & Ty visited the State House on February 15th and talked with Representative Rich McClain and Senator Brandt Hershman. Field Staff Report: Janice Wilson highlighted her board report giving special note to Action Alert, Marketing Teleconference, Young Farmer District activities. Safety: Maxine Snider reported on grain bin safety “Death in a Tin Can” Refreshments were served by Janice Frey and the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be March 21st at 7 p.m. ______________will have Devotions & Refreshments.
