Carroll County Farm Bureau Board Meeting 11/15/04
The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and
called to order by President Mike Beale. Shawn Ashby, led 13 board
members in the pledge to the flag. Kathy Justice read devotions. The
secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the October meeting were
waived as they were enclosed with November’s meeting notice. The minutes
were approved as written. Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
Insurance Report: A note was left that they are getting another quote on
the building improvements.
A thank you was read from Celica Slavens for the John Deere bicycle she
won at the fair.
Short discussion of the District 3 Fall Meeting to be held November 16th
at Goodland.
Membership Report: Betty Ward reported that Carroll County made 100%
voting and associate membership goals.
Women’s Leader Report: Janice Frey shared that our County Lugar Essay
winner, Malena Zook was also the District winner. Her and her family
have been invited to the District Fall Meeting. Janice also suggested
inviting them to our Annual meeting in the spring and possibly having
Malena read her essay. Carroll County’s Silent Auction item for the
District Fall Meeting is a $75 gift certificate to the Wildcat Bed and
Breakfast in Cutler. Motion carried to pay for this donation. Upcoming
dates: February 7th is Food Check Out day and February 8th is the annual
Friends Day in Burlington. Janice also volunteered to host our Board
Christmas Party on Monday, December 20th at 6:30pm.
Young Farmers: Mark Justice reminded all young farmers to attend the
District YF Christmas Party on December 5th at White County Community
Building from 1:00-4:00. The County New Year’s Eve party will be at the
Justice’s at 6:30pm on the 31st. The December Marketing meeting will be
the 14th at the Ashby’s at 6:30pm. Also mark your calendar for the Young
Farmer Conference on January 28-29-30, 2005 and they are in the planning
stages of a ski trip to Michigan in February.
Legislative/Current Events: Shawn Ashby gave a quick web site update and
lots of other useless information. Junior Snider gave a brief update on
Carroll County Senior Family Services
Safety Report: Maxine Snider read the “Safety 6 Pack”
Field Staff Report: Janice Wilson suggested that we help organize a
safety program for Carroll County involving Extension, EMS, and many
other local organizations. She also highlighted her board report giving
special note to Discussion Meet, Young Farmer Conference, Ace Ambassador
program and the January District Cabinet Meeting.
Refreshments were served by Mark & Kathy Justice and the meeting was
adjourned. Next meeting will be December 20th at Jerry & Janice Frey’s
home. Carry in meal at 6:30 for board members & their family. Rusty
Ashby will have devotions.
