Carroll County Farm Bureau Board Meeting
-- October 18, 2004 --



The meeting was held at the Delphi Farm Bureau Insurance office and called to order by President Mike Beale. Vice President, Ryan Swayze, led 12 board members in the pledge to the flag. Tracie Swayze read devotions. The secretary’s report: reading of the minutes from the August meeting were waived as they were enclosed with September’s meeting notice. The minutes were approved as written. Treasurer’s report was read and approved.

Insurance Report: Tom Leisure reported on the repairs that have been made and are in the process of being made to both of the offices.

Well Water Testing update – 53 samples were tested, 2 had high Nitrate levels, but nothing to be alarmed about. Mike passed around a map of where the samples were taken from and report of the tests performed.

Women’s Leader Report: Janice Frey reported that she had attended the cabinet meeting and the District 3 Fall Seminar, both were good. She also received two applicants for the Lugar essay contest. Ryan moved that we give each entry a $25 check, motion was seconded and passed vote. Janice also needs an item for the silent auction at the District 3 Fall Meeting on November 16th. She also read a note from Carolyn Burkle about her recent health problems and it was voted that we would send a flower arrangement to the hospital this week.

Young Farmers: Mark Justice announced that Ty & Sacha Brown were again finalists in the Young Farmer Achievement Award. Kathy Justice and Rusty Ashby are in the process of planning the District Christmas Party on December 5th. There will not be a November Marketing meeting due to scheduling conflicts. Mark also asked for suggestions for future activities. Suggestions included: Annual New Year’s Eve Party, Bowling this winter, Ski Trip to MI, and possibly a trip to Decatur, IL for the Farm Progress Show next fall.

Shawn Ashby gave a quick web site update.

Field Staff Report: Janice gave highlights of her board report giving special note to Discussion Meet, Young Farmer Conference, FB to DC. She also announced that Carroll County did make 100% of its membership goal for 2004.

Refreshments were served by Tracie Swayze and the meeting was adjourned. Next meeting will be November 15th. Mark & Kathy Justice will have devotions and refreshments.
